On this day trip to Cardiff, the vibrant capital of Wales, a local guide will meet us upon our arrival. First, they will lead us on a panoramic tour of the city by coach. During this Cardiff Day Trip tour, you will see many of Cardiff’s major landmarks and hear fascinating stories about its history and people.
Cardiff Bay
Following our sightseeing tour, we will head to Cardiff Bay. This impressive natural harbour, located at the estuary of the River Taff, is a bustling waterfront area. Consequently, you will have ample free time to find a place for lunch and explore. We recommend trying one of the many restaurants situated right by the water, but please note that lunch is not included in the tour cost.
Cardiff Bay has transformed from an industrial port into a vibrant waterfront destination, where you can explore many of the city’s key cultural and political landmarks. You can see the Senedd, the striking Welsh Parliament building, as well as the famous Wales Millennium Centre, from here.
Penarth
Next, our sightseeing tour continues as we travel to the seaside town of Penarth to admire its pebble beach and stunning Art Deco pier. Penarth is a charming seaside town just outside Cardiff where you can explore its beautiful coastline and historic architecture.
First, you can take a stroll along the promenade and admire the town’s elegant Victorian and Edwardian buildings. Next, walk along the famous Penarth Pier, an iconic Art Deco structure that offers stunning views across the Bristol Channel. Finally, you can relax on the pebble beach and enjoy the serene atmosphere of this coastal town.
Cardiff Castle
Finally, we arrive at the highlight of our day: Cardiff Castle. Your entrance is included, and after a brief introduction from your guide, you will have free time to explore the ornate rooms and wander the extensive grounds.
Cardiff Castle is one of the city’s most significant heritage sites, boasting a history that spans over 2,000 years. Inside, you can wander through the opulent and spectacular rooms that showcase stunning Victorian Gothic architecture. Next, you can climb the impressive Norman Keep for panoramic views of the city. Finally, you can stroll through the extensive grounds and discover the castle’s Roman beginnings.
As the trip comes to an end we will return to London, our driver will make a comfort stop at a service station for refreshments and facilities. While the only guaranteed drop-off point is Earls Court, your driver will advise you of any potential additional stops on the day and can help with advice on getting back to your accommodation.
