Peru, Lima to Huaraz 6 Day

Looking to explore Peru beyond the Inca Trail? You’ll see Peru’s hidden gems over 6 days. You’ll walk one of South America’s last tropical glaciers and visit gorgeous blue lagoons on a comfortable first-class tour from Lima to Huaraz and return. Chavin de Huantar’s magical temples are also worth seeing. Expect rewarding walks and stunning views!

Hey there, Peru explorers! Welcome to the very lovely city of Lima. Our journey begins with a comfy overnight coach ride. Recline your bed seats, chat with your new crew. And get ready for the epic adventure that lies ahead of us. Our arrival in magnificent city of Huaraz will be early in the morning.

If snow-capped mountain views haven’t brightened your morning, a guided tour of the lovely town centre will. You can spend the rest of the day at a local restaurant or gorgeous overlook. No ‘bored’ here. Stroll around the buzzing markets and squares of Huaraz. You’ll see Plaza De Armas, Regional Museum of Ancash and Iglesia La Soledad (all against the backdrop of beautiful mountains).

Got your hiking boots? Lace up! The stunning Pastoruri Glacier is one of tropical South America’s last glaciers, and we’re hiking it today. Expect gigantic snowy cliffs, harsh rocky valleys, and panoramic photos.

We’ll hop onto our coach for a 3-hour drive to the, followed by a 2-hour hike to the top. Standing tall at 5000 meters above the sea, you’ll catch epic views of snowy cliffs intertwined with rocky landscapes. It’s a lesser-known tourist attraction you’ll be so glad you didn’t miss. Get ready to be absolutely awestruck! We’ll hit the road to see the crystal blue Lake 69 in Huascarán National Park. Picture sprawling farmlands, paper trees, ancient ruins and finally a turquoise glacier-fed lake – all over 7 hours & a 9-mile hike.

We’ll hop on our private vehicle for a 2-hr ride to Chavin de Huantar – a stunning town in the middle of the Andes. Here, you’ll explore a labyrinth of ancient temples that’ll leave you completely mesmerised.

Day 1 - Lima, Coach to Huaraz

Lima

Hey there, Peru explorers! Welcome to the very lovely city of Lima. Our journey begins with a comfy overnight coach ride.

Recline your bed seats, chat with your new crew. Tonight, you’ll travel in an overnight coach with 1st class tickets. Soft & comfy beds. Good times with your crew. Coach rides don’t get more amazing than this.  And get ready for the epic adventure that lies ahead of us.

Day 2 - Huaraz

Our arrival in magnificent city of Huaraz will be early in the morning.

Day 4 - Huaraz

It’ll be a long day! Start with breakfast and prepare for an amazing walk to explore Laguna 69, the 69th of 300 lakes here. Hiking can be exhausting. It will be worth it when you see the sparkling blue waters surrounded by mountains and valleys. We guarantee.

Day 5 - Huaraz, Chavin de Huantar, Lima

Huaraz, Like studying ancient cultures? You’ll adore today. The old Chavin de Huantar will be our destination after breakfast. De Huantar, this stunning pre-Incan temple complex with sculpted stone blocks is a UNESCO World Heritage site. Put on your Lara Croft face. Explore these fascinating 1200 BC constructions! (Over 3000 years ago).

Huaraz -We only have one goal in Huaraz: catch our overnight coach.

Gawk at 5000-year-old Chavin Architecture

You’ll explore the insane network of ancient Chavin temples here (and the pinnacle of ’em all – Chavin de Huantar) that were once a cultural centre in 1000 BC. It’s a UNESCO World Heritage Site for a reason!

Take a Trip to One of Peru’s Oldest Archaeological Sites

We’ll hop on our private vehicle for a 2-hr ride to Chavin de Huantar – a stunning town in the middle of the Andes. Here, you’ll explore a labyrinth of ancient temples that’ll leave you completely mesmerised.

Day 6 - Lima

And with that, our Peru adventure has come to an end. Memories have been made. Socials have been exchanged (and muscles have been built too). And quite possibly, plans have been made to meet the crew again. Maybe somewhere in Asia next time?

  • Peru: Finding ATMs. ATMs are common in Peruvian cities (watch out for fees!), but bring cash for rural areas.
  • Your Awesome Trip Manager: Your Trip Manager is your go-to for everything – info, fun, food tips, and smooth travels!
  • Peru Weather: Pack Smart! Peru’s weather varies a lot by region (coast, Amazon, Andes). Expect warm and dry on the coast, hot and rainy in the Amazon, and mild to cold in the mountains. Pack layers!
  • Peru: Health & Vaccinations. Check the latest CDC info for Peru and chat with your doctor about recommended vaccinations.
  • Heads Up: Altitude. Parts of this trip are high up (above 9200 feet). Some people feel a bit breathless, nauseous, or light-headed. It’s usually mild, but bring any meds you need and check health advice on altitude sickness. Your Trip Managers will also give you tips.
  • Luggage Limits: One carry-on and one suitcase/backpack (max 73x50x25cm and 20kg). Pack light – you’ll need to manage your own bags.
  • Good to Know for Peru:
    • Safety: We stay in safe areas. When you’re out, stick to well-lit areas and trust your gut.
    • Water & Food: Drink bottled water only!
    • Toilets: Bin the toilet paper, don’t flush it!
    • WiFi/Cell: WiFi is common but can be slow. Check your international phone plan.
