Welcome to Borneo! Your adventure begins in the Malaysian capital, the gateway to this wild and wonderful island. After checking into your hotel, take some time to settle in, freshen up, and soak in the atmosphere.
This evening, meet your fellow travellers and your guide before heading out together to explore the city by night, sample local flavours, and kick off your journey through one of Southeast Asia’s most extraordinary destinations.

Day 2 - Kuching and Bako National Park
Wake up in Kuching ready to embrace your first full day of jungle adventure. This morning, we travel to a local fishing village before boarding a boat bound for Bako National Park, one of Sarawak’s most celebrated natural treasures. As we cruise along the coastline, keep an eye out for dramatic headlands, mangroves and secluded beaches that hint at the wild beauty ahead.
Once inside the park, those striking, sculpted rock formations signal our arrival in Bako’s unique landscapes. With a knowledgeable local guide, we’ll explore lush rainforest trails alive with colour, sound and movement. Watch for macaques, bearded pigs, monitor lizards and, if we’re lucky, the elusive proboscis monkey—found here in one of its most important habitats.
After a day immersed in nature, we return to Kuching as evening falls. Tonight is yours to enjoy: sample local Sarawakian cuisine, wander the waterfront, or simply relax and reflect on an unforgettable jungle experience.

Cruise along the azure coasts for a 30-min ride to Bako Fishing Village, checking out all the show-stopping sea scenery along the way.
Explore the rainforest with a local guide
Join an expert for a walk through the rainforest. This is your chance to check out all the wildlife here (some found only in Borneo!) including proboscis monkeys, silvered langurs, bearded pigs and monitor lizards.
Day 3 - Kota to Semenggoh with Kinabala

Today delivers one of Borneo’s most unforgettable highlights. This morning, we head into the rainforest to witness orangutans in their natural habitat at the Semenggoh Orangutan Wildlife Centre — a true bucket-list moment. Dedicated to rehabilitation and conservation, this sanctuary offers a rare chance to see these remarkable primates living freely among the trees.

A gentle walk through the lush forest sets the scene as you watch for flashes of auburn fur in the canopy above. With luck, you’ll see orangutans swinging effortlessly between branches, interacting with their young, or stopping by the feeding platforms for a well-earned snack. Observing their intelligence and playful behaviour up close is both humbling and inspiring.
After this incredible wildlife encounter, we’ll transfer to the airport and fly onward to our next destination.
Kota Kinabalu
Touch down on the coast and ease into the evening. With dinner ahead and sweeping waterfront views, there’s no better way to end the day than watching the sun dip below the horizon in this laid-back seaside city.

See Orangutans in the wild Experience
Head to the Semenggoh Wildlife Centre, just 24 km from Kuching, and meet orphaned and rescued orangutans who have been rehabilitated to survive in the wild. Learn about their rehabilitation, conservation efforts, and orangutan biology from your local guide, and catch the first feeding of the day as these incredible animals explore their natural habitat.

Zip through the clouds as we head to Kota Kinabalu for some cosy coastal relaxation.
Day 4 - Kota Kinabalu
Today is all about soaking up the sun and exploring at your own pace. Pristine beaches stretch out before you, with powdery sand and crystal-clear waters perfect for a refreshing dip or a leisurely stroll. Whether you choose to lounge by the shore, snorkel in the vibrant coral reefs, or simply enjoy the tropical scenery, the day is yours to savour.
If you’re feeling adventurous, hop on a bicycle and explore the surrounding countryside. Ride through local villages, scenic paths, and lush landscapes, discovering hidden spots along the way. From relaxed coastal vibes to active outdoor excursions, Kota Kinabalu offers the perfect balance of freedom and fun. With a full day to choose your own adventures, whether soaking up the sun, exploring nature, or cycling through charming landscapes, every moment is yours to enjoy.

Experience a more authentic side of Borneo on a guided bike tour. We’ll follow the quiet trail into the countryside where you’ll have plenty of opportunities to snap pics of the rice fields and small villages. Plus, you’ll meet the local Dusun people and learn about their culture and rubber tapping techniques before enjoying a local lunch.
Day 5 - Kota Kinabalu to Sepilok with Sandakan

Rise and shine! Today starts early, as we take to the skies once more, heading east to the historic town of Sandakan. The flight sets the tone for another day of discovery and reflection, as we prepare to delve into the area’s rich history and lush natural beauty.

Upon arrival, we’ll visit the Sandakan Memorial Park, a poignant site dedicated to the lives lost during World War II. Walking through the park, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of the town’s wartime past, paying respects to those who endured unimaginable hardships. The memorial is both moving and informative, offering insight into the region’s resilience and history.
Sepilok
Next, we journey to Sepilok, where nature takes center stage. Spend the afternoon exploring the Sepilok Forest and its Rainforest Discovery Centre, an immersive space blending education with the beauty of the tropical jungle. Trails wind through dense forest, showcasing local flora and fauna, and offering opportunities to spot wildlife in its natural habitat.
As evening falls, we’ll stroll through town for dinner, sampling authentic local cuisine. The day closes with a relaxed evening, reflecting on the balance of history, culture, and nature that makes this region so extraordinary.

Day 6 - Sepilok to Selingan Island with Sandakan

Our morning begins at the lantern-adorned Puu Jih Shih Buddhist Temple, perched high on a hill with breathtaking panoramic views that are nothing short of spectacular. After soaking in the sights and snapping a few photos, we continue our journey to Selingan Island, stopping for a delicious lunch en route.

Once on this idyllic island, known as a safe haven for green and hawksbill turtles, it’s time to unwind. Drop your bags at the resort and let the island’s serene beauty wash over you. As the sun sets, the magic truly begins. Tonight, you’ll witness an extraordinary natural event: a turtle laying her eggs, followed by the incredible sight of hatchlings making their first journey to the sea. It’s an experience that connects you to nature in the most intimate and awe-inspiring way, creating memories that will last a lifetime. Selingan Island is where conservation meets wonder, offering a rare and unforgettable glimpse into the delicate life of these remarkable creatures.

Day 7 - Selingan Island to Kinabatangan River with Sepilok

Farewell, Selingan—you’ve been magical, but the adventure continues! Today we leave the island behind and head back to the mainland, ready for more wildlife encounters and rainforest wonders.

Our morning begins at the sun bear conservation centre, where you’ll meet these tiny, adorable creatures—the world’s smallest bears—up close in a safe, caring environment. From there, we journey to the Sepilok Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre, set within a lush rainforest reserve. Here, rescued orangutans roam freely as they adjust to life back in the wild, and you’ll have the chance to watch them swing, play, and feed under the watchful eyes of expert caretakers. After a morning of unforgettable animal encounters, we make our way to the river, preparing for the next stage of our adventure.
Kinabatangan River
Arriving at the river, you’ll drop your bags, pour yourself a cup of tea, and get ready with binoculars in hand. Then, step aboard for a tranquil boat cruise along the winding Kinabatangan River. This is a haven for wildlife, offering a front-row seat to some of Borneo’s rarest and most fascinating species—including pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, hornbills, and countless birds and reptiles. As the sun sets over the rainforest, you’ll feel the serene magic of this incredible ecosystem, making memories that will last a lifetime.

Hop onto a river cruise along the Kinabatangan River to discover wildlife situated along the river where there is a chance to see the Proboscis Monkey, rare bird species of Borneo, Hornbills, Gibbons and maybe even Pygmy Elephants!
Day 8 - Kinabatangan

Start your day with a fresh cup of coffee and a hearty breakfast, gearing up for an early morning river safari. As the sun rises, glide along the Kinabatangan River, keeping a keen eye out for the area’s incredible wildlife. Spot rare proboscis monkeys leaping through the trees, hornbills calling across the canopy, playful gibbons swinging from branch to branch, and even the tiny pygmy elephants enjoying the morning sun along the riverbanks.
After this magical start, we swap the boat for solid ground and take a guided jungle walk through the lush rainforest. Learn about the flora and fauna from your expert guide as you immerse yourself in the sights, sounds, and scents of Borneo’s wilderness. Following this adventure, it’s time to refuel with a delicious lunch, savouring local flavours in the heart of the rainforest.
To round off your day, we embark on one final river cruise. As you drift along the water, stay alert for wildlife sightings—this is your last chance to witness the Kinabatangan’s remarkable creatures in their natural habitat. With the sun setting over the rainforest, it’s a perfect finale to a day filled with unforgettable encounters and breathtaking scenery.

Once your bags are packed, we’ll enjoy one final meal together, sharing stories and laughs with your fellow travellers as you savour the last flavours of Borneo. Then, it’s time to board our transfer back to Sandakan Airport, where your onward journey begins.
