Kicking off in legendary Istanbul, this year-round trip embraces Gallipoli, impressive Roman ruins, the Aegean Coast and Pamukkale – site of the cascading mineral pools.
Day 1: Istanbul
Welcome to Turkey! Arrive Istanbul and transfer to hotel in Sultanahmet. Rest of day free. Overnight – Istanbul.
Day 2: Istanbul – breakfast
Guided tour of the city that spans Europe and Asia. See the Hippodrome area, Blue Mosque and more. Tonight, we enjoy a group Welcome Dinner at a typical Turkish restaurant. Dinner and overnight - Istanbul.
Day 3: Istanbul – Gallipoli – breakfast
Our first destination is Gallipoli where we’ll enjoy a guided tour with lunch, of the historical battlefields, taking in Lone Pine, Chunuk Bair and other memorials, the trenches and of course, ANZAC Cove. Lunch, dinner and overnight - Gallipoli
Day 4: Gallipoli – Kusadasi - breakfast
Heading south, we enjoy a guided tour of Homer’s Troy, famed for the Trojan wooden horse and fabled Helen. Onwards to ancient Pergamum where we’ll enjoy a guided tour of the Roman ruins before continuing to the coastal resort of Kusadasi, via a leather manufacturer. Dinner and overnight - Kusadasi
Day 5 - Kusadasi – Pamukkale - breakfast
Guided exploration of the Roman ruins of legendary Ephesus, once the capital of Asia Minor. We also visit a carpet manufacturing house. Dinner and overnight - Kusadasi
Day 6: Kusadasi - Pamukkale - Istanbul – breakfast
Leaving Kusadai we drive east to Pamukkale, site of the stunning terraced mineral pools and Roman Hierapolis, where we can opt to bathe in the thermal waters. Bidding farewell to our guide, we later travel by overnight train back to Istanbul. Overnight – train (recliner Pulman seat)
Day 7: Istanbul
Transfer back to the hotel, then the rest of the day is yours to explore Istanbul. Overnight - Istanbul
Day 8: Istanbul – breakfast
After breakfast tour ends.
Note: Topkapi Palace is closed on Tuesdays, whilst the Hagia Sofia is closed on Mondays. Please consider this when booking. Grand Bazaar and Egyptian Spice Market are both closed on Sundays.
The airport arrival transfer is included for all flights arriving into Attaturk International Airport in Istanbul. From tour departing in 2007, we will also provide an arrival airport transfer for Easy Jet and Turkish Airways flights from London Luton Airport, that arrive in Sabiha Gokcen Airport.
