Patagonia Trail 9 Days

Patagonia is one of the world’s most stunning environments with jagged glaciers, snow-capped peaks, turquoise lakes, and vibrant beech woods. This one visits Chile and Argentina, where you’ll visit stunning national parks, sail close to glittering glaciers, spot flamingos, hike past blue lagoons, ride horses like a Gaucho and kayak through crystal-clear waters. Our globe has never looked so good.

Patagonia and Torres Del Paine National Park are accessible from Puerto Natales. Formerly a small fishing port, this will be our home for the first few days while we enjoy the granite boulders, turquoise glacial waters, and snowy peaks. We begin our Puerto Natales adventures, our catamaran will take us to the Balmacede and Serrano glaciers. We’ll float across dazzling blue seas, stopping to see penguin colonies, sea lions, and waterfalls before reaching the glaciers. We’ll hike a short distance to see stunning views. We will Discover Puerto Natales, the ship museum, historic centre, condors, Milodon cave, and dawn and sunset colours are all worth seeing. You can also visit an Estancia (working farm) to learn about Gaucho life and ride your own horse through Patagonian countryside.

We’ll hike deep into the Chilean Torres Del Paine National Park, a UNESCO World Biosphere Reserve with lakes, rivers, mountains, and glaciers. With 17 hours of daylight in summer months, watching the Torres Del Paine horns blaze fiery violets and reds as the sun sets is unmatched. Watch for foxes, condors, deer, and possibly a puma. We will take the public bus from Chile to Argentina like the locals, taking in the stunning surroundings. El Calafate, named for a berry that, according to folklore, guarantees your return to the Patagonian region, is the entryway to the massive Perito Moreno Glacier and Los Glaciares National Park. Mountains, lakes, woodlands, glaciers, and the arid Patagonia grassland make up the ‘Austral Andes’, a natural wonder. After hiking in the park’s south, we’ll take a boat tour of the Perito Moreno glacier, getting up close to the epic walls of ice and seeing how its blueish colour tints the lake below. This is an experience we’ll never forget. We will visit El Chaltén, a little community in Los Glaciares National Park the capital of trekking’ El Chaltén to experience pristine nature. Follow the lovely forest pathways and breathe the fresh mountain air. We’ll trek to Laguana De los Tres, where the sparkling blue lagoon, granite walls, and pure white glacier make an unmatched visual feast. Mount Fitz Roy, Patagonia’s most iconic peak, is a must-see.

We’ll share our favourite images and say goodbye, but we won’t forget those Patagonian peaks in a hurry.

  • Trip Expectations: Be prepared for flexibility in Patagonia. While the itinerary provides an outline, routes, schedules, accommodations, and transport may change unexpectedly due to local conditions or events beyond our control.
  • Tipping: Tipping is customary in Patagonia. A 10% tip is standard in restaurants (unless already included). Small tips for hotel porters and service staff are appreciated.
  • ATMs: ATMs can be scarce in Patagonia, especially in Argentina. Some may not accept foreign cards, and withdrawal limits may apply. Bring sufficient cash for remote areas.
  • Weather: Patagonia’s weather is unpredictable. Be prepared for sun, wind, and rain, potentially all in the same day. Dress in layers to adapt to rapid changes.
  • Luggage Allowance: You can bring one piece of hand luggage and one suitcase or backpack, with a maximum size of 73cm x 50cm x 25cm (29” x 20” x 10”) and a weight limit of 20kg (44lbs). Pack lightly as you’ll need to carry your own luggage at times, potentially over short distances.
  • Altitude Concerns: Parts of this trip reach elevations above 2800 metres (9200 feet), where some travellers may experience altitude sickness symptoms like shortness of breath, nausea, or light-headedness. While usually mild, preparation is key. We recommend bringing any personal medication and researching altitude sickness prevention. Your Trip Managers will offer helpful advice before and during the trip.
