East Africa Safari for 11 Days

Wildlife-filled national parks, an elephant orphanage, a Maasai town, and an ancient volcano are just a taste of East Africa. We include morning and afternoon game drives in all national parks, including the Maasai Mara and Serengeti, for your best chance of seeing the Big 5. You’ll also drive through valleys and plains in our top-of-the-line open-top vehicles and stay in some of the best lodges and luxury campsites for the ultimate safari experience.

Passing through Great Rift Valley, we’ll arrive at our Maasai Mara lodge for lunch and our first game drive. Watch for wildlife big and little as we pass those wonderful undulating hills. You can take a hot air balloon trip over the African Savannah at sunrise. Nature’s Great Migration occurs in the Maasai Mara. If you visit at the appropriate time, you can see millions of wildebeest and zebras heading to better pastures.

We will then return to Nairobi for more wonder. We’ll visit the Kibera Slum to view the Mirror of Hope Foundation’s outstanding work to break the cycle of poverty through education and better women and children’s lives. We’ll enjoy a spectacular game drive in Nairobi National Park. Look for waterholes, cityscapes, and the rare white rhino. We’ll also visit the Daphne Sheldrick Elephant Rehabilitation Centre to witness baby elephants play and bathe in the water (the most beautiful chaotic mess you’ll ever see) and learn about their recovery.

We leave Amboseli crossing into Tanzania. Arusha is our destination after saying farewell to our Kenyan guides and meeting our Tanzanian ones. We’ll visit the Shanga Community Project, which employs disadvantaged people in arts and crafts. Tarangire, our first Tanzanian resort and national park, awaits us. Known for its elephants and baobabs. A trip to Tarangire National Park for a full day in search of secretive predators and varied scenery. After, we’ll visit a Maasai hamlet to learn about their culture.

Our safari vehicles will take us to the Serengeti. We will stop at Mto Wa Mbu Village and a market on our way to the Serengeti’s main gate, taking in vistas of the Rift valley and Ngorogoro Crater. We will drive through this immense reserve’s limitless plains, and stay in a Serengeti safari lodge. We will spend a day hunting African plains game with predators on the hunt. Seeing millions of wildebeest and zebra grazing as far as the eye can see is one of Africa’s best sights. A once-in-a-lifetime balloon adventure can make today even better. Followed by a morning wildlife drive from the Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro Crater, an old volcano with one of the greatest predator concentrations chasing the plentiful species inside.

On the last day, take one last game drive to Lake Manyara National Park. The grassy floodplains and vast woods of Lake Manyara, known for its tree-climbing lions, offer a unique ecology for wildlife and birdlife. We will leave our African adventure with full hearts and memories.
