This tour will introduce you to the magnificent and mysterious prehistoric monuments of the ‘Stonehenge, Avebury & Associated Sites’ UNESCO World Heritage Site. The region is home to many famous Neolithic monuments whose purposes are still not fully understood. However, many pagans and modern druids consider these sites to be sacred and of great mystical or astronomical importance.
West Kennet Long Barrow
The tour includes a stop at West Kennet Long Barrow, one of Britain’s largest and most accessible magnificent Neolithic burial tomb. Which is over 5,000 years old. From this location, we’ll also see the impressive Silbury Hill. Europe’s tallest prehistoric man-made mound, the purpose of which remains a fascinating mystery.
Avebury
During this tour, we’ll visit the charming village of Avebury, home to an impressive stone circle that is a close neighbour to the more famous Stonehenge. First, we will embark on a guided walking tour, and afterward, you’ll have free time to explore the stone circles and the village at your leisure. For lunch, you might consider the Red Lion Pub, though please note this meal is at your own expense.
Stonehenge
Finally on the tour we will arrive at Stonehenge, with entry times varying depending on the time of the year. You will have approximately two hours to explore this awe-inspiring monument at your own pace. Audio guides are included with your entry, subject to availability.
When the tour comes to an end, there will be 2–3 drop-offs in central London. Your guide will confirm drop-off locations on the day and can assist with public transport advice. Please note that all itinerary times are approximate and can be affected by London traffic.
