A tranquil country road in summer
Day 1 - We head north out of Edinburgh,
over the Forth Bridge to our first stop - an
enchanting woodland and waterfall walk. Then
we stop at Edradour Distillery for a complimentary
tour of the distillery, complete with free Whisky.
Through Pitlochry, a highland village and on
to Ruthven Barracks, an imposing early 18th
century ruined fortress, deep in the Grampian
Mountains. We stop again at Culloden, an eerie
battlefield and the virtually untouched site
of the Highlander's last stand. Then it's off
to Loch Ness where we indulge in a little Monster
hunting, before we pull into Inverness , the
capital of the Highlands, for the night.
Day 2 - First stop is Rogie Falls for
a forest walk to the waterfall where salmon
leap (in season). On to Loch Carron, by the
Achnasheen road, in the remote Highlands of
Wester Ross, before stopping at the Kyle of
Lochalsh. From there we visit the picturesque
Eilean Donan Castle, as seen in the movie 'Highlander'.
We will visit Glen Shiel/Glen Garry and the
unforgettable Glen Coe, experiencing the majestic
scenery and mystery of these areas before our
stop at Oban.
Day 3 - From Oban our first stop is
Glen Lonan for a Hairy Coo Safari. On to St
Conan's Kirk, the eccentric chapel on the shore
of Loch Awe. We visit Kilchurn Castle, the ghostly
ruin of a Campbell stronghold then through Glen
Orchy. After our stop at Loch Lomond we visit
the Kelvin Grove Art Gallery. Our next stop
is in Glasgow and finally to Edinburgh , the
capital of Scotland, for a well deserved break
