Tour of Europe - The Winter Wanderer
Explore
Europe, including Dover, Paris, Lyon,
Barcelona, the French Riviera, Monaco,
Pisa, Florence, Rome, Vatican City, Venice,
Vienna, Munich, Liechtenstein, Lucerne,
Berlin, Hamburg and Amsterdam.
Day
1 - London to Paris.
Meet
your Contiki crew on our way to the White
Cliffs of Dover and the cross-Channel
ferry to France. Tonight, an evening tour
of the illuminations of Paris. (D)

2 - Paris Sightseeing.
Our city
tour takes in Nôtre Dame, the Champs
Elysées, the Arc de Triomphe and
views of the Eiffel Tower. Tonight, why
not eat out and experience a famous cabaret?

3 - Paris to Lyon.
South
from Paris, we pass through beautiful
countryside and the famous vineyards of
the Burgundy Region to Lyon, at the confluence
of the Rhône and Saône Rivers.(B)

4-5 - Lyon to Barcelona.
Southwards
to Barcelona. Time to view Gaudi's amazing
Art Nouveau Cathedral and see the 1992
Olympic Games complex. Then try tapas,
go shopping for Lladró porcelain
and Majorica pearls or perhaps take in
a Flamenco show. (B,D) (B)

6-7 - Barcelona to Nice -
French Riviera.
Today we return to France and and the
Riviera playground before arriving at
our hotel in Nice. A whole day to explore
and shop at your leisure is followed by
an evening in Monaco and the chance to
try your luck in the casinos of Monte
Carlo. (B,D) (B)

8- Nice to Florence.
First visit a French perfumery and see
some spectacular coastal scenery before
arriving in Pisa. From there, it's on
to the Renaissance city of Florence. Enjoy
a demonstration of traditional Florentine
leathercraft and shop for silver and gold
before checking into our hotel. (B)

9-10 - Florence to Rome.
This morning we meet our local expert
guide for a walking tour of Florence's
Duomo, Basilica of Santa Croce, Giotto's
Belltower, the Baptistry and Piazza della
Signoria. Then we travel on to Rome where
we'll capture all the sights included
in our city tour and explore the Vatican

11-12 - Rome to Venice.
Great scenery on our drive to Venice
where a complimentary motorboat takes
us to see Piazza San Marco, the Doges'
Palace and the Bridge of Sighs. Maybe
enjoy a gondola ride. (B,D) (B)

13-14 - Venice to Vienna.
Now to Austria and our special Resort
Hotel chosen for its superb amenities.
On our city tour, see the Museums, the
Hofburg Palace and St. Stephen's Cathedral.

15 - Vienna to Munich.
To the city of Munich with its famous
Glockenspiel. Experience a typical beer
hall in this fun-loving Bavarian capital.

16-17 - Munich to Mt Pilatus
- Lucerne.
Today we stop for lunch in Vaduz, the
capital of Liechtenstein, before reaching
Lucerne. Catch a cable car up to our hotel
(weather permitting), perched 7,000 feet
above sea level on Mount Pilatus. Enjoy
the delights of Lucerne with its wooden
bridges and lakeside views. Shop for Swiss
watches and local chocolates. (N.B. When
Mt Pilatus is inaccessible due to weather
conditions, we stay at a hotel at the

Day
18 - Lucerne to the Rhine Valley.
Through Germany and along the Rhine River
to St Goar. Shop for beer steins, taste
the local wines and take in the scenery
surrounding this picturesque town. (B,D)

19-20 - Rhine Valley to Berlin.
Visit the 1936 Olympic complex and then
on to other famous sights including the
Reichstag, Brandenburg Gate and where
Checkpoint Charlie once stood. (B,D) (B)
Day
21 - Berlin to Hamburg.
Leaving Berlin we travel to Hamburg. Explore
this Hanseatic city with its historic
port and modern shops. (B,D)
Day
22-23 - Hamburg to Amsterdam.
See a diamond exhibition and perhaps visit
the Rijks and Van Gogh Museums. Our visit
to Edam includes a cheese & clog making
demonstration. On our last night, a chance
to get together for a farewell dinner.

24 - Amsterdam to London.
We travel south through the Dutch &
Belgian countryside to Calais in France
for our ferry back to Dover, reaching
London early evening. (B)
